I guess this isn't exactly a presentation, but I'll be at the IIW unconference this fall if anyone else is gonna be there or wants to sign up: internetidentityworkshop.com

also happy to chat about it with anyone interested but not sure or whatever

Our next "european" FoC meetup is on the 24th of september, this is the luma link : lu.ma/eog1qc5x and we already have 2 guests (I'll contact you), so we're looking for one more demo/presenter! This meetup will last an hour

I have something to present

Maikel van de Lisdonk 2025-08-28 10:53:29

awesome, thanks Mariano Guerra !

Ivan Reese 2025-08-28 14:41:19

Sharing a laugh.

I get a lot of these emails, but this is the first one where the fake "we actually listened to the podcast, honest (🤞)" section is actually plausible. I wonder if they had an LLM analyze some of the referenced episode?

The real tell is the third paragraph, where they nail that ours is indeed a pro-agile show.

Invite them to the podcast but only if they promise to exclusively talk about Siberian winters

Mariano Guerra 2025-08-28 14:46:10

if I had to do it quick I would index all episode's title and description from the rss feed, do RAG on the top N episodes that match a search based on the guest's profile and use those to generate the email.

Mariano Guerra 2025-08-28 14:46:58

less quick would be to transcribe and index all episodes and do rag on segments, maybe summarize segments, but if the description is good then the job was done by the podcast's author

Ivan Reese 2025-08-28 14:49:01

Yeah our descriptions are great</s>

Ivan Reese 2025-08-28 14:49:24

@Ezhik I got halfway through writing the reply before the joke stopped being funny.

I had a guy try to connect with me on LinkedIn recently who is part of the larger Clojure community. The service he offered was something that anyone who knows anything about me would know I don’t want or need, but he claimed to know who I was and cited a non-existent (presumably LLM hallucinated) paper as an example of work he respected from me. This timeline is a pox.

Mariano Guerra 2025-08-28 19:59:55

I love getting mails describing and praising products I haven't touched in years as the intro to offer/sell me something

Mariano Guerra 2025-08-28 20:00:29

"look I took the time to learn about this thing that clearly is still up for historical reasons but I didn't notice"

Daniel Buckmaster 2025-08-28 21:18:54

We've got both kinds of software, chaos and order!

Ivan Reese 2025-08-28 21:32:07

Yeah that bit is almost accidentally relevant. Maybe the "just Siberian winters" thing might play.

Daniel Buckmaster 2025-08-29 01:31:26

Somewhere in here is a concept for an Eric André style interview with a completely normal agile coach who does not expect INTERCAL. Him also being called Ivan is just the icing on the cake.

Ivan Reese 2025-08-29 02:32:22

Yeah I think I actually will write that email.

Chris Knott 2025-08-30 06:30:16

This is the email Ivan (Reese née Gekht) sent to Steve to take control of the podcast
