Karl Svartholm 2024-08-26 07:03:30 Trying to make Duplo more interesting... So far it is working (probably), seem to have encouraged my daughter to learn to stack two pieces together! π
Actually the next step after a fanfare is probably (not the stars but) to have pieces make different sounds and/or beats depending on sensors (ex sensing colors, stacking, proximity or sound) β a music machine. Perhaps more important: a programmer base plate; where you stack pieces & program them (from ex Arduino studio, for now). Inter-piece communication could also be interesting? Ideas?
Jarno Montonen 2024-08-26 08:26:58 Very nice! One idea I had is that would it be possible to create "water blocks" in which the "water" (light) would flow downwards when stacked.
Karl Svartholm 2024-08-26 08:48:18 That's a lovely idea! I'll try to add electronic contacts on the pogos/pins/pegs if/when that's successful such "water block" should be fairly straight forward, right? π€
Karl Svartholm 2024-08-26 18:12:54 @David Alan Hjelle I'm finding that very inspiring, I can feel many more ideas brewing π
PS. Did you ever play with this yourself?
Paul Tarvydas 2024-08-26 21:13:14 Are you aware of LEGOβs Super Mario and Luigi figures? They have little displays and microprocessors and accelerometers and speakers in them. They do and say different things depending on their orientation and motion and position on a "special" base. My grandsons have some. I think that I played with them more than they did :-).

No, unfortunately. I've had them on my wish-list for years, ever since I saw a talk by one of their co-founders, but never percolated to the top.
