This is a tool for compiler developers of LLVM. This vscode extension can support exploring LLVM IR and machine IR after each pass - github.com/sunxfancy/vscode-llvm

Interested in hearing more about how you are using this. Are you working on a compiler right now?

I am not using this atm. But I have long been pondering over to jump into this space. Creating my own language. This one poped up in one of my threads and since I plan on using LLVM I bookmarked it right away and then thought of FOC. I guessed many folks here could be interested in this one. A handy visualisation of LLVM IR can be pretty useful, IMHO.

I was just thinking about this the other day. It feels like it's been around for a while, but still I only glimpses of and partial implementations of the idea.

This is absolutely fascinating. Tally marks are a little visual language that has coevolved with the textual context.

I don't have a link, but links appreciated.

I grew up in China, the ‘zheng’ 正 character has a few meanings, but it kind of means “complete” in this case. It’s also marginally different from 五 which is the character for 5, I’ve always found that confusing.

The romantic version makes the most immediate sense to me

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking about, but it uses the word "Tally" 🙂 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tally_stick
